tiny.cc - History: People everywhere called him "Big John" or Mr. Rock, appropriate names for the owner's 6-foot tall, 265-pound uncle. Uncle John never went to college...well, yes, he did - for one semester, before being drafted by the Detroit Tigers to play professional baseball, yet he was probably one of the smartest businessmen of his generation. Everything he touched seemed to turn to gold. He was an organizer, a leader, a giver - and the most generous person many ever knew. Some of his projects include the building of a playground for children in his hometown and the installation of a huge glockenspiel town clock. Most of all, his generosity throughout the community of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania was known only by him and those he helped. Uncle John passed away in 2009, but the family is still hearing stories of how he helped people and organizations. His dream was to build a log cabin, which he did in 2006. The cabin ended up being Timberstone Resort and included a huge lodge, several smaller cabins, a swimming pool, fishing pond and pavilion for weddings and parties. Phase 2 of this recreational area was in the process of being built when he suddenly had a stroke in early 2009. He passed away 4 months later. Although Uncle John was not here to oversee the building of this log cabin, completed in July 2010, somehow we feel that he would have loved it here.
